Believe it or not, Frankenstein showed up at the Plantables warehouse today to scare our workers. Unfortunately for Frankenstein, they just laughed at him and told him to make some paper. Again unfortunately for Frankenstein, his hands were way too large and he was easily the worst paper maker we've ever seen. We're hoping Frankenstein has a better day tomorrow. And to all our friends, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
2 1/2 year old Julian, our youngest and definitely cutest volunteer, showed up at Plantables today with his Grandma Judy (right). Julian worked at "Station A" making paper pulp with his cousin and worker Jess (middle left) and job coach Kailey (left). Julian was also busy cranking out some beautiful die-cut snowflakes and playing his own version of our beanbag toss game. After his big day at Plantables, he was more than ready for his afternoon nap.
Worker Matt was one lucky guy at Plantables today. Not only did he get to work with one of his favorite volunteers, Kris (pictured right), but he also got to show off his paper making skills to three wonderful UW-River Falls graduate students (L to R Courtney, Laura, Lindsey). Fortunately for Matt (and Plantables), the students and Kris will all be returning next Monday too!!
All semester long, graduate students from the UW-River Falls Communicative Disorders Department will be volunteering at the Plantables warehouse. The students will get the opportunity to work in tandem with the Plantables workers while learning about the assistive technology and augmentative communication that's being utilized at the warehouse. Our first group of students came today and our workers were more than delighted to show them their new job skills.
Plantables worker Tony is shown with UWRF graduate student Michelle.
Another successful month at Plantables has gone by. Thus it's time to recognize another one of our amazing volunteers. September's volunteer of the month is….. (drum roll please) Kathy Ludwigson! Kathy always tries her best to keep Jim on track and is a great worker alongside her son, worker Nick. She goes over and above for all of us at Plantables and we would like to say thank you for everything you do! In recognition of her service, she was awarded a homemade apple pie by job coach Olivia. - Emily
